Pangaea Travel is pleased to announce that we now provide all of our clients with 100% carbon neutral travel!
We, the owners of Pangaea Travel, feel strongly about being global citizens. In addition to our passion for seeing the world, we believe we should be supporting the cultures, environments, and destinations we visit. This commitment has led us to partner with Carbonfund.org and to offset all of our clients' travel, including their flights, hotels, cruises, or whatever type of travel they embark upon.
Why we are different and better?
While many travel companies are offsetting a portion of their clients' travel, or ask for a donation to do so, Pangaea is now making all of our clients' travel carbon neutral on their behalf, without them having to pay a cent. We are offsetting our customers' entire travel carbon footprint, as well as our own business footprint. As far as we know, Pangaea Travel is Carbonfund.org's first partner to not only offset the travel that clients pay us for, but even the travel clients may book on their own, like airfare.
Why offset carbon travel?
Burning of fossil fuels are producing harmful carbon dioxide emissions, also known as anthropogenic CO2 emissions. This is causing the Earth's climate to change and warm, which will have catastrophic results if we do not act to reduce them. Carbon dioxide emissions are about 40% higher than they were before the Industrial Revolution and at their highest levels in recorded history, going back over 650,000 years.
What is carbon offsetting?
Carbon offsets are relatively simple. We all produce carbon dioxide emissions through the use of energy: driving, heating and cooling our homes, watching TV, etc. CO2 emissions - the byproduct from activities such as photosynthesis and fossil fuel usage - have been on the rise since the Industrial Revolution. Scientists now agree that the dramatic rise in CO2 emissions is a leading cause of global warming.
Each person is said to have a "carbon footprint", which is the amount of carbon dioxide a person emits over a given period. Carbon offsetting represents the reduction of CO2 emissions in one location, such as a wind farm in Kansas, to neutralize the CO2 emissions produced in another location, such as driving a car or heating a home. If you choose to offset your entire carbon footprint, then you can become carbon neutral.
How can your trip have a positive impact on the environment?
Carbonfund.org supports three types of carbon offset projects: renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation. While each is different, they all play an important role in the fight against climate change. The projects Carbonfund.org supports meet the same high standards and certifications relied on by thousands of companies, organizations and governments to ensure quality environmental protection. Pangaea Travel chose to go CarbonFree by supporting a combination of the three types of carbon offsets Carbonfund.org offers.
We've built the system so you can take advantage of it! Interested in traveling carbon-free? Contact us today!
