Although Manuel Antonio is one of Costa Rica smallest parks, this idyllic area is a combination of rich forest, white sand beaches and colorful coral reefs. Located 31/2 hours south of San Jose, this park’s coastal location boasts diving, snorkeling and fishing galore.
The forest in the reserve is home to sloths, iguanas, and the endangered and adorable red-backed squirrel monkeys. Toucans and scarlet macaws flap by as you hike the trail which winds around Punta Cathedral and allows for some spectacular views.
